“Everything begins with an idea.” – Earl Nightingale
It all starts with an idea. Act upon that idea and you now have a business plan laid out.
As an entrepreneur, the hardest part, is oftenfinding the idea. See, most of use at some point in our lives think of starting a business, or at least a small side-hustle to help pay the bills. What baffles most of us and prevents us from doing so, is that we’re forever on the quest of coming up with the ‘perfect’ idea. And that, precisely is the mistake.
One of the best books that I’ve read, that helped me come up with the ideas of my first few startups, was ‘The Lean Startup’, by Eric Ries. If you’re really serious about starting off your own business in the shortest amount of time possible, I’d highly recommend you go grab a copy, down below.
But first, let’s go through this article.
3 Steps to help you come up with a business idea, ASAP:
1.Agree that the ‘perfect’ situation and ideas don’t exist:
In other words, perfect means something that is ‘absolutely flawless’- not one thing wrong with it. We throw around the word in our daily lives so often, that we have stopped appreciating its true meaning.
So, you’re really waiting for an utterly flawless, utopian idea? What are you, God?
We all make mistakes and that’s how life works on this planet. Just roll with it. Stop looking for the ‘perfect’ idea and circumstances to start.
Grab a paper and a pen. Put down 10 things that you have a problem with in your daily life.
As an example, here are 5 of mine:
Chances are you’re not from another planet, and most other people you know face similar problems.
Pick one problem out of the 10 you listed, that you think you can solve- not just for yourself, but everyone else who faces the problem. Remember, most of us live in a Capitalist society. If you can provide value to others by making their lives easier, they will pay you for it.
Here are a few more concrete steps, for taking your idea to the store shelves, and becoming an entrepreneur.
Once again, make sure to get yourself a copy of ‘The Lean Startup’, to help you get your biz up and running in the shortest amount of time possible. There’s only so much I can put down in a blog post.
